How to: Replace a serial mouse.
Solution:
Turn off the computer, disconnect the old mouse, connect the new mouse to a serial port, and turn on the computer.
NOTE: Install a serial mouse driver if necessary.
1) Shut down Windows 95, and turn off the computer.
2) Unplug the old mouse from the serial port at the back of the computer.
3) Connect the new mouse to the same serial port used by the old mouse.
4) Turn on the computer.
NOTE: If the new mouse is fully compatible with old mouse, Windows 95 should detect and configure the new mouse using the installed mouse driver.
5) If the mouse was not auto-detected, install the mouse driver.
NOTE 1: The following steps assume that you are replacing a serial mouse with a new serial mouse.
NOTE 2: If the computer has a PS/2 port, you may need to disable the PS/2 port before installing the new mouse.
NOTE 3: The mouse installation disk may include a program that will 'test' the mouse installation (typically named test.com). Refer to the mouse installation manual for detailed configuration information.
